Everything's kickin' - sorry, I meant punching - in the hometown of Manny Pacqiuao, as these kids compete in the annual city boxing tournament:

The kid in blue won the match.

Thanks to the deft hands of "Pugilistic Association" members, this dragon comes alive to do its duty: warding off bad luck.

In the days after Chinese new year, businesses all over Singapore have their premises "blessed" by such performances. You can't walk these streets without hearing drums pounding and cymbals crashing in some store or office. I saw two in my neighborhood today, and for sure I'll be seeing more tomorrow.

The streets of Singapore's Chinatown - and the rest of the world's many chinatowns - overflow with people waiting to greet the year of the tiger:

The cool thing about living in this country is, you get to have two new years (Chinese and western) and three versions of "christmas" (Hari Raya, Deepavali and xmas). That's a lot of days off :)

Covering the Singapore Airshow brought me back to those childhood days that I spent making scale models of fighter aircraft. I thought those days were long gone, but this morning it all came back to me. This time, though, I didn't have Tamiya plastic cement and Humbrol enamel paints with me. What I had was my EOS 7D:

F111

A Royal Australian Air Force F-111 "Aardvark" puts on the afterburners. You can see the massive heat waves it produces in this shot.

A10

The ultimate mud mover - a US Air Force A10 Warthog - performs a low altitude barrel roll. Check out the passenger aircraft in the background.

Apache Falcon

The Singapore Air Force's AH-64D Longbow Apache teams up with an F-16 Fighting Falcon.

T50
A Korean TA-50 trainer jet pulls an impressive high-altitude loop.

Now if can just get me one of these toys... hahahaha!!!
