This online shoebox contains random pictures, notes, whatever. I've been a professional writer-photographer for so many years now. It's a damn good excuse to carry a camera around.

I'm not really used to having myself get splashed all over a newspaper front page, but it's nice to get the chance to tell some stories I've never told :

You can read the entire web version in the Manila Bulletin online :)

The right amount of rain can put nostalgia into any scene:

Speaking of old things, here's an old picture taken almost a decade ago:

Solo Flight

Yup that's me, taken during one of those dusk-till-dawn shooting sprees with Erman. This must have been Ektachrome Elite 100, shot with my long-gone EOS 50 mounted on my long-gone Velbon video tripod.

Calle Real looks exactly the same today. One of these days I'm gonna publish this photo :)

What happens when you put a camera in the hands of Legazpi's Trick Shot Boys?

They'll put a rock on your finger, as they did to my colleague Adi the Art Director:

These kids live around the Cagsawa Ruins, and they know their stuff well. They can operate any camera - even my big, black EOS 7D - with ease, coaxing out perspective trick shots like these, no Photoshop needed. They'll make you blow the smoke over Mayon, or lean on a tiny-looking Cagsawa ruin, or fly high over the Albay countryside. The shots are funny as hell :)

The kids say they just learned on their own. But I think somebody must have taught them their tricks. Whoever this somebody is - I wanna buy you a beer!

Found this shot while looking at transparencies from my old film days:

Its deep inside one of the caves in Cagayan. Shot with a Canon EOS 50 / Tokina 19-35mm / Kodak Ektachrome Elite 100. Plus two flash units set to IR slave. A Sekonic flashmeter was used to measure the flash output, and I remember having to crawl through mud and darkness to position the lights. There were no LCD previews in those days.

This was in 1999. ELEVEN FRICKING YEARS AGO!!!!! When today's digital shooters were still cryin' out for mama... :P

Damn I'm old... :P
